Recently, the unexpected announcement by the Bánh Mì Ơi chain suggesting a potential closure has left many customers perplexed. The speculation began with a video posted on November 20th on the brand’s official Facebook page, accompanied by the caption “It’s time to close a chapter,” sparking rumors of an impending shutdown.

The latest post on the brand’s Facebook page

The post quickly garnered significant engagement and comments, with many questioning whether this was a genuine announcement or merely a content strategy. However, the brand has remained silent, declining to address any inquiries, further fueling public curiosity.

On November 21st, observations at three branches—Trần Cao Vân, Trần Quốc Thảo, and Lê Thánh Tôn—revealed that all Bánh Mì Ơi outlets were operating as usual, with no signs of closure despite a slight decrease in foot traffic.

On food delivery platforms such as GrabFood, ShopeeFood, and BeFood, most branches are listed as “open” and continue to accept orders as usual. This stark contrast between the social media “farewell” and the actual operations has left many customers even more confused.

Previously, according to the Labor Newspaper, when reporters contacted Big Belly Co., Ltd., the parent company of Bánh Mì Ơi, a representative stated that the stores would temporarily close from 12 PM and reopen the following morning. When asked about the closure rumors, the company briefly responded, “No,” before ending the call. However, attempts to reach the hotline listed on the Facebook page have been unsuccessful, adding to the mystery.

Founded in 2011, Bánh Mì Ơi is recognized as a modern bánh mì concept, emphasizing minimalist design, professionalism, and standardized operations. To date, the chain operates approximately 14 locations in Ho Chi Minh City, including both fixed stores and mobile carts.

Bánh Mì Ơi is a favorite among young customers

The menu features over 10 varieties of bánh mì, including fried eggs, beef steak, salted pork, and peppercorn, priced between 15,000 and 42,000 VND per loaf. The bread is praised for its crispy crust, warm fillings, and innovative flavors that appeal to young tastes. For instance, the beef steak bánh mì is generously filled with tender beef slices, slightly chewy due to the connective tissue, with a mild yet harmonious seasoning. In addition to bánh mì, the brand offers beverages such as coffee, bubble tea, peach tea, and other refreshing drinks.

Bánh Mì Ơi offers a wide range of unique and diverse flavors

As of now, Bánh Mì Ơi has not issued any official statement regarding closure or restructuring. While all branches remain open and operational, the video captioned “It’s time to close a chapter” remains on the Facebook page. The brand’s silence amid public inquiries has heightened anticipation for a clear resolution in the coming days.
