Vietnam’s Prime Minister Proposes Agricultural Exports to Egypt

On the morning of November 23rd, during the G20 Summit in South Africa, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính held a meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, continuing his series of engagements at the event.

Both sides expressed delight at the elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership during President Luong Cuong’s state visit to Egypt in August 2025. They agreed to promptly finalize the Action Plan to implement the Vietnam-Egypt Comprehensive Partnership framework.

With a shared commitment to boosting two-way trade to $1 billion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged both nations to swiftly organize a joint working group on the Vietnam-Egypt FTA feasibility study and establish the Vietnam-Egypt Business Council. He also called for accelerating negotiations to sign a double taxation avoidance agreement, enhancing investment cooperation, and facilitating Vietnamese businesses’ participation in Egypt’s new administrative and urban development projects.

The Prime Minister further suggested strengthening agricultural cooperation, promoting on-site production and export in the agricultural sector, and expediting procedures to open markets for Egyptian products like potatoes, dates, and pomegranates in Vietnam, as well as Vietnamese rice, lychees, and dragon fruits in Egypt.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly admired Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and trade growth, strongly agreeing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s cooperation proposals. He urged both sides to coordinate and develop an Action Plan to drive trade cooperation forward, ensuring it matches the potential and bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Madbouly welcomed Vietnamese businesses to expand market research and investment in Egypt, particularly in telecommunications, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to connect with the high-potential ASEAN market through collaboration with Vietnam’s vibrant economy.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also proposed joint efforts to effectively implement the Letter of Intent on defense cooperation signed during President Luong Cuong’s visit to Egypt, starting with inviting Vietnam to the International Defense Exhibition in Cairo in December 2026.
