As the market enters its most vibrant shopping season of the year, prices for older iPhone models are not dropping but showing signs of increase. Specifically, compared to August 2025—before the official launch of the iPhone 17 series—most older iPhone models have seen price hikes, with some experiencing significant increases.

For instance, the standard 128 GB iPhone 15 is now priced at 17.29 million VND, a 2 million VND increase from three months ago. The iPhone 15 Plus has also risen by approximately 1 million VND. The model with the most substantial price increase is the standard iPhone 16, which has climbed by 2.4 million VND (from 18.89 million to 21.29 million). The iPhone 14 has also seen a 1.4 million VND increase.

Below is a reference table showing prices and increases for some older iPhone models (all are the lowest standard versions):

Model Price in August 2025 Price in November 2025 Increase (million VND)
iPhone 14 12.59 million 13.99 million 1.4
iPhone 15 15.29 million 17.29 million 2
iPhone 15 Plus 18.59 million 19.59 million 1
iPhone 16 18.89 million 21.29 million 2.4
iPhone 16 Pro 25.09 million 25.59 million 0.5
iPhone 16 Pro Max 30.09 million 30.59 million 0.5

Price increases for older iPhones during the launch of new models are rare in Vietnam’s market but are becoming more frequent as retailers continuously adjust prices to align with market conditions.

According to some retailers, the current high prices of older iPhone models are attributed to significant price reductions in July and August to stimulate demand during the off-peak season. As demand rebounds, prices are adjusted back to their usual levels.

The extent of price adjustments depends on the popularity of the model. The iPhone 15, 16, and to some extent, the iPhone 14, are currently in high demand, as reflected in their price increases. In contrast, less popular models like the iPhone 16e remain unchanged, while the 16 Pro and Pro Max have seen only slight increases.

The launch of the iPhone 17 at higher prices—starting at 24.99 million VND for the iPhone 17 and 37.99 million VND for the iPhone 17 Pro Max—coupled with limited availability of new models, has boosted sales for older models, which are priced significantly lower.

Prices for these older iPhone models are expected to remain stable until the Lunar New Year, when shopping demand peaks, and may decrease afterward as demand declines. However, the rising USD exchange rate will exert pressure on retailers when pricing iPhones and other imported products.
