At the 2025 EICMA Motorcycle and Scooter Show, Taiwanese brand SYM made waves with the unveiling of its all-new ECHS 125 scooter. Designed for urban commuters seeking a compact, fuel-efficient, and practical ride, the ECHS 125 is poised to become one of SYM’s most significant 125cc offerings this year.
Developed under the principles of “compactness, ease of handling, and practicality,” the ECHS 125 boasts a wheelbase of just 1,225 mm, a width of 690 mm, and a seat height of 720 mm. These dimensions make it accessible to a wide range of riders, including those with smaller statures.
Equipped with 12-inch front wheels and 10-inch rear wheels, the scooter offers exceptional maneuverability in crowded city streets. A standout feature is its 37.5-liter under-seat storage compartment, spacious enough for a helmet and personal items. The flat floorboard, front hooks, and rear cargo rack further enhance its utility, catering to young professionals, office workers, and daily commuters.
Powered by an air-cooled 125cc single-cylinder engine, the ECHS 125 delivers 9.5 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. While these figures are slightly lower than competitors like the Honda Air Blade or SH Mode, they remain sufficient for urban commuting.
The scooter’s most impressive feature is its fuel efficiency of just 1.9 liters per 100 km, making it one of the most fuel-efficient 125cc scooters on the market. SYM attributes this to advanced combustion optimization and fuel-saving technologies integrated into the new engine.
Despite targeting the mainstream market, the ECHS 125 is equipped with premium features typically found on higher-end models:
– Dual-channel ABS and Traction Control System (TCS), surpassing the Honda Air Blade and rivaling high-end models like the Honda SH.
– Smartkey 2.0 for enhanced convenience and security.
– Digital LCD display with comprehensive ride information.
– Full LED lighting for energy efficiency and improved visibility.
– USB QC 3.0 charging port for mobile devices.
– Multi-stage EnMIS ignition system for optimized fuel consumption.
The suspension system consists of telescopic forks upfront and a single rear shock absorber—a basic yet effective setup for urban riding.
SYM has yet to announce official pricing, but given its tradition of competitive pricing, the ECHS 125 is expected to be affordably positioned, directly competing with models like the Honda Vision, Suzuki Address, and Yamaha Janus in multiple markets.
SYM anticipates rapid adoption of the ECHS 125 in Asian and European markets, thanks to its fuel efficiency, ease of use, and modern features. This launch marks a significant step in SYM’s strategy to expand its product lineup and compete with industry giants like Honda, Yamaha, and Piaggio.
The debut of the SYM ECHS 125 at EICMA 2025 underscores the Taiwanese brand’s commitment to innovation, focusing on globally relevant attributes: compactness, fuel efficiency, safety, and affordability. With its standout features, the ECHS 125 is poised to become a flagship model in SYM’s 125cc segment in the years to come.
