Late on November 24th, Dong Nai Power Company successfully energized the second transformer unit at the Long Thanh Airport 110kV Substation.

Phase 2 of the Long Thanh Airport Substation project, which includes a 40MVA transformer, began construction in late September 2025 with a total investment of nearly 39 billion VND.

Previously, on November 27th, 2024, Dong Nai Power Company successfully energized Phase 1 of the project, featuring a 40MVA transformer, a 3.8km transmission line, and a total investment of 119 billion VND.

The energization of the second transformer unit at the Long Thanh Airport 110kV Substation increases the total capacity to 80MVA. This significantly contributes to ensuring a stable power supply for Long Thanh Airport, both currently and upon its future operation. It also ensures that power infrastructure remains ahead of demand, reduces the 22kV supply radius, minimizes losses, maintains voltage quality, and enhances the reliability of power supply in the surrounding area.

Over the past period, Dong Nai Power Company has ensured a stable power supply for the construction of Long Thanh Airport, with an average monthly consumption of approximately 730,000 kWh, equivalent to the usage of a large industrial enterprise in the province.

Currently, the primary power supply for the construction of Long Thanh Airport is provided through two 110kV substations located outside the airport. Once the relevant units complete the necessary infrastructure and procedures, the Long Thanh Airport 110kV Substation will be connected to directly supply power to the project, replacing the external substations, both during construction and upon the airport’s operation.

The Long Thanh Airport project has an estimated investment of over 336.6 trillion VND (equivalent to more than 16 billion USD based on 2014 prices), covering an area of 5,000 hectares. Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of over 114.4 trillion VND, divided into four sub-projects.

In Phase 2, the airport will be further developed with an additional open-configuration runway and a passenger terminal to achieve a capacity of 50 million passengers per year and 1.5 million tons of cargo per year.

By Phase 3, all project components will be completed, reaching a capacity of 100 million passengers per year and 5 million tons of cargo per year.

As directed by the Government and the Prime Minister, Phase 1 construction is expected to be substantially completed by December 19th, 2025, with a technical flight and commercial operation commencing in the first half of 2026.
