The Vietnamese automotive market is buzzing with excitement as news emerges about a notable newcomer in the sports car segment. Since mid-November, authorized Skoda dealerships have started accepting limited deposits for the Skoda Octavia RS.
The Skoda Octavia RS, embodying European sports styling, is expected to be distributed in Vietnam with a price tag of over 1.4 billion VND.
This high-performance variant of the Octavia line is fully imported from the Czech Republic. The first units are anticipated to be delivered to customers before the Lunar New Year 2026.
Positioned in the C-segment sedan category, the RS version specifically targets enthusiasts passionate about speed and sporty driving dynamics. In a market where affordable high-performance sedans are scarce, the Octavia RS stands out as a fresh option.
With Honda discontinuing the Civic Type R in Vietnam, the closest competitor to the Octavia RS is now the Subaru WRX, imported from Japan.
The design blends modern aesthetics with sleek and angular lines.
According to Skoda, the Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a maximum output of 265 horsepower at 5,250-6,500 rpm. Peak torque reaches 370 Nm between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm.
Power is delivered to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. Beyond the powerful engine, Skoda has also fine-tuned the chassis and steering system of the RS compared to the standard model.
Design-wise, the Octavia RS adopts a more aggressive stance than its standard counterpart. It features 19-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, and a rear spoiler. The interior is sport-oriented, with premium leather seats that hug the body. Carbon fiber accents and glossy black piano wood trim enhance the cabin’s luxury feel.
The interior highlights include sporty seats and customizable ambient lighting.
Technologically, the vehicle boasts a 13-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. The center console features an electronic gear selector. The sport steering wheel incorporates paddle shifters, offering drivers greater control over the engine’s power.
In Vietnam, the Subaru WRX is currently priced between 1.699 billion and 1.799 billion VND. Early indications suggest the Skoda Octavia RS will be priced slightly above 1.4 billion VND.
If this pricing holds upon official launch, this European sports sedan will hold a significant financial advantage over its direct competitor. The Octavia RS is poised to become a compelling choice for Vietnamese car enthusiasts in the near future.
