U.S. retail sales rose less than expected in September, while consumer confidence plummeted in November, signaling a cooling in consumer spending after months of robust demand. Markets now price in over 80% odds of a 25-basis-point Fed cut next month, up from 50% a week ago. Reports also suggest White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, who has previously argued for lower rates, is a leading contender for the next Fed Chair position.
