According to the Khanh Hoa Province’s Electronic Information Portal, on the afternoon of November 27th, Mr. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, inspected the progress of the Khanh Hoa Waste-to-Energy Plant project.

The investor’s report highlighted current challenges, including discrepancies between the project’s capacity in the National Power Development Plan VIII and the Provincial Planning, as well as the absence of the project’s connection plan in the Provincial Planning. These issues have delayed subsequent investment procedures.

After reviewing the progress, the Vice Chairman emphasized the project’s dual significance in addressing environmental and economic concerns by managing waste disposal and generating clean energy.

Mr. Le Huyen urged the investor and relevant departments to expedite the completion of necessary procedures to ensure the project’s timely or early completion.

The Vice Chairman tasked the Department of Finance and the Department of Industry and Trade with updating the project details in the Provincial Planning adjustment plan, ensuring alignment with the National Power Development Plan VIII.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment was instructed to review the Provincial People’s Committee’s directives and the project site’s current status to guide the investor in complying with legal regulations. By Q1/2026, the Department must report to the Provincial People’s Committee on waste supply solutions for the plant.

Additionally, the Suoi Dau Commune People’s Committee was urged to approve the 1/500 scale detailed planning scheme, enabling the investor to submit environmental impact assessments, basic designs, and feasibility studies for approval. They should also collaborate with relevant units to expedite land leasing and clearance within the project area.

The Khanh Hoa Waste-to-Energy Plant project, located in Suoi Dau Commune, covers 10.87 hectares. Developed by Khanh Hoa New City Joint Stock Company, the project has a total investment of VND 3,250 billion.

The construction and equipment installation are scheduled from Q3/2026 to Q3/2027, with trial operations commencing in Q4/2027.

A key component is a waste treatment plant for domestic and non-hazardous industrial waste, with a capacity of 1,000 tons of dry domestic waste per day (approximately 1,300 tons of fresh domestic waste) and 250 tons of non-hazardous industrial waste per day, generating 26MW of electricity.

The project also includes a concrete and block factory utilizing 200 tons of slag daily, a 110kV transformer station, a 110kV power transmission line, a pumping station, and a raw water supply pipeline.
