The construction project of the Ring Road 2.5 section from Đầm Hồng to National Highway 1A, spanning 1.3 km, is a Build-Transfer (BT) initiative with a total investment exceeding 1.3 trillion VND. Commenced in 2014, the project was slated for completion by 2017 but faced prolonged delays.

By 2020, the project was halted with only 40% completion due to an unrenewed contract and pending approval of the adjusted feasibility study report.

After over a decade since its inception, the project officially resumed in May 2025, with a targeted completion date in Q1/2026. Once operational, Ring Road 2.5 will alleviate traffic congestion in southern Hanoi and stimulate socio-economic development in the region.

As reported by VTC News, the area at the beginning of the route has significantly transformed since the resumption of construction.

In several areas, the road surface has been leveled, with machinery operating continuously. Workers are divided into groups to finalize the remaining road foundation sections.

To ensure timely completion, the contractor has deployed nearly 40 engineers and workers in three continuous shifts. Many tasks are being executed around the clock.

The contractor representative stated that, alongside the road surface, the sidewalk system, greenery, and technical infrastructure are being expedited.

Each shift is required to maintain dust control, clear debris, and ensure safety for residents, as the route passes through a densely populated area with numerous businesses.

Alongside Package No. 1, the construction of Bridge L3 over the Lừ River (Package No. 2) is also accelerating. According to Hanoi People’s Committee, Bridge L3 is the most critical technical node, determining the route’s connectivity. Workers and machinery are maximized to ensure beam installation and structural completion.

At the end of the route, the 890-meter underpass connecting Ring Road 2.5 to Kim Đồng Street, with a total investment of over 700 billion VND, has reached approximately 70% completion.

This is the most complex segment, as the tunnel excavation must be conducted while the overhead railway remains operational. The contractor has implemented special measures, including foundation reinforcement and 24/7 vibration monitoring, to ensure absolute safety.

Upon completion, Ring Road 2.5 will significantly alleviate one of the longest-standing traffic bottlenecks in southern Hanoi.

Not only will it reduce pressure on routes like Nguyễn Trãi, Giải Phóng, and the Giáp Bát bus station, but the new road will also create vital connectivity, fostering development for both existing and emerging residential areas.
