The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has successfully identified and shut down an illegal cold beverage manufacturing facility in Pakistan, notorious for producing counterfeit products under the guise of renowned brands. This operation was executed under the direct supervision of PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javed, aimed at safeguarding public health and curbing fraudulent activities within the food industry.

The food safety team targeted the facility located in Adda Baseera, Basti Qadirpur Laar, where PFA officials confiscated 2,000 liters of counterfeit cold beverages, soft drinks, and 300 liters of substandard syrup. All seized items were destroyed on-site to prevent potential harm to consumers.

Additionally, authorities seized a substantial quantity of empty bottles, counterfeit packaging materials, three beverage filling machines, five gas cylinders, and other equipment used in the illicit production process. According to PFA, the facility mixed various chemicals and synthetic flavors to create fake soft drinks, which were then packaged to mimic products from well-known brands, intended for local market distribution.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at Basti Malook Police Station against the individuals operating this illegal facility. This legal action is a crucial step in bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing the circulation of counterfeit beverages that pose significant health risks to the public.

Director General Muhammad Asim Javed emphasized that identifying and halting such fraudulent activities remains a top priority for the PFA. He also advised consumers to exercise caution when purchasing beverages, particularly those with unclear origins or suspected counterfeit branding.

Javed stated that regular inspections and targeted raids will continue across Punjab to ensure all food and beverage products in the market meet safety standards, thereby protecting consumer rights. The PFA encourages the public to report any suspicious manufacturing or distribution of counterfeit beverages for immediate action by the authorities.

The decisive action taken by the PFA in Basti Qadirpur Laar underscores the agency’s unwavering commitment to public health and consumer trust in reputable brands. The seizure and destruction of thousands of liters of counterfeit beverages serve as a stern warning to those attempting to profit illegally through market deception.
