On November 28, the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command announced that the over 7 billion VND seized in an illegal cross-border transportation case in Khanh Binh commune (An Giang) has been authenticated as genuine currency.
Earlier, on the morning of November 22, a patrol team from the Long Binh Border Guard Post, in collaboration with other operational units, spotted Nguyen Van Chau (born in 2000, residing in Nhon Hoi commune, An Giang) carrying a sealed cardboard box along a trail leading to the Hau River in Thanh Phu hamlet (Khanh Binh commune).

Upon inspection, authorities discovered three black nylon bags inside the box, containing various denominations of Vietnamese currency totaling over 7 billion VND. Chau confessed that he was hired by an individual named Sen (Cambodian national, with unknown background) to transport the money to Cambodia.
While attempting to cross the Hau River with the money, Chau was caught red-handed by the Border Guard. The task force documented the incident, seizing the cash and related items.
During questioning, Chau admitted to “illegally transporting currency across the border.”
