China’s automotive exports are set to soar, with projections exceeding 6.8 million vehicles by 2025, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Deputy Secretary-General Chen Hu predicts total vehicle sales will surpass 34 million units this year, including 16 million new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Chinese auto exports are projected to surpass 6.8 million units by the end of 2025.

CAAM highlights China’s rapid growth in auto exports over recent years: 5.86 million units in 2024, 4.91 million in 2023, and 3.11 million in 2022. In the first 10 months of 2025, exports reached 5.62 million units, a 15.7% year-on-year increase. Export value hit 798.39 billion RMB (USD 112.8 billion), up 14.3% year-on-year. October alone saw a 34% surge in exports compared to the same period last year, per Chinese customs data.

This growth is fueled by rising global demand for both traditional and new energy vehicles. International markets, particularly in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, are increasingly embracing China’s electrified and high-tech automotive offerings.

The BYD Sealion 6 has garnered significant attention in Vietnam’s automotive market.

In Vietnam, Chinese brands like BYD, Geely, Omoda&Jaecoo, and MG have made substantial inroads since 2023. Omoda&Jaecoo has established a local assembly plant, with Geely planning a similar move. These brands are introducing modern designs and advanced technologies, capturing local consumer interest.

Domestically, China’s auto market remains robust. In the first 10 months of 2025, production reached nearly 27.7 million units, a 13.2% year-on-year increase. With exports comprising a growing share of total output, Chinese automakers are solidifying their global dominance at an unprecedented scale.

If CAAM’s projections hold, China will export nearly 7 million vehicles in 2025, reinforcing its position as the world’s largest auto exporter by volume—a title first claimed in 2024.
