CEO of Song Ba Ha Hydropower Plant Takes Leave and Engages with Authorities

The Chairman of the Board of Directors will temporarily oversee the Executive Board's operations and assume the authorized duties and legal representation responsibilities of the CEO during the CEO's leave and engagement with regulatory authorities.

Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company (stock code: SBH) has issued a resolution on temporary personnel arrangements to ensure operational continuity while key technical leaders are engaged with regulatory authorities.

According to the resolution, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vu, Deputy Head of the Technical and Safety Department, will temporarily oversee the management and operations of the Technical and Safety Department. This assignment takes effect during the period when the Department Head is working with regulatory authorities.

Concurrently, Mr. Nguyen Hong Viet, Head of the Planning and Materials Department and former Head of the Technical and Safety Department, will actively collaborate with and support Mr. Vu in his leadership role. This includes critical tasks related to the operational procedures of the Song Ba Ha Reservoir and the inter-reservoir management protocols within the Ba River basin—areas requiring high technical safety standards.

In the operations sector, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Director of the Operations Workshop, will temporarily manage the workshop’s activities while the Director is engaged with regulatory authorities.

The resolution also authorizes Mr. Vu Huu Phuc, Chairman of the Board of Directors, to temporarily oversee the Executive Board’s operations. He will also assume the legal representative’s duties and powers during the CEO’s leave and engagement with regulatory authorities.

Previously, on November 19, the Song Ba Ha hydropower plant recorded a discharge rate of 14,740 m³/s, while the Song Hinh plant recorded 656.32 m³/s, causing rapid flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the flood map for the downstream area of the Ba River, when the Song Ba Ha hydropower plant releases water at a rate of 14,000 m³/s, over 80% of the residential areas along the river’s lower reaches will experience severe flooding.

Song Ba Ha Hydropower JSC (Upcom: SBH), the plant operator, has a chartered capital of VND 1,242 billion. EVN Genco2 holds over 60% of the shares, and REE Corporation holds nearly 26%.
