Global Commodity Market Trends
In the global commodity market, key assets such as crude oil, gold, natural gas, and silver all saw declines during the morning session on December 2nd. This downturn is partly attributed to a temporary halt in trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange due to a data center outage.
Previously, silver prices had surged to a record high of over $57 per ounce. Inventories in warehouses linked to the Shanghai Futures Exchange have recently plummeted to near decade-low levels. Additionally, markets are now fully pricing in a quarter-point rate cut in the United States, following weak labor market data and dovish signals from Federal Reserve officials.
Delayed economic data due to the six-week U.S. government shutdown has further bolstered the case for lower borrowing costs, supporting non-yielding assets. Separately, traders are monitoring potential tariff implications after silver was added to the U.S. list of critical minerals, which could restrict exports and limit supply relief.
