Upcoming Launch of the $430 Million Dung Quát Railway Project

On November 30, the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai Province announced that the three projects selected by the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board for simultaneous groundbreaking on December 19 have met all necessary conditions regarding land clearance and legal documentation. These projects are on track to commence as scheduled.

Specifically, the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Railway Rail and Special Steel Production project, with a total investment of VND 10,000 billion, has completed key procedures such as the 1/500 planning, feasibility study report appraisal, and land lease agreements. The fire prevention and fighting design is currently under review by the Provincial Police Department’s Fire Prevention and Rescue Division.

The rainwater and wastewater collection and treatment system project for the southern downstream area of Tra Khuc River in Quang Ngai City, with an investment of VND 1,000 billion, is being managed by the Provincial Project Management Board for Civil and Industrial Works. The board has actively collaborated with local authorities and relevant units to announce project details, land acquisition boundaries, and is currently preparing compensation and resettlement plans in accordance with regulations.

The project owner has approved the construction design following the basic design and cost estimate, and has initiated the contractor selection process for construction.

The project to upgrade and expand the transportation infrastructure in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, with a total investment of VND 350 billion, is managed by the Provincial Project Management Board for Transportation Works. The bidding process for construction packages has been initiated.

Project owners are expediting the review and completion of all documentation and procedures in compliance with regulations.

To date, the selection of contractors for construction supervision has been completed, and the evaluation of e-bidding documents for construction packages is underway. The results will be submitted for approval in accordance with regulations.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Cong Hoang, stated that project owners are expediting the review and completion of all documentation and procedures. The Department of Construction has been tasked with finalizing the groundbreaking ceremony plan, including security arrangements, to ensure the event is conducted solemnly, safely, economically, and effectively.

“All units must accelerate their efforts. The province directs that if daytime work is insufficient, units should utilize nighttime hours to ensure the contractor selection process and results are completed before the groundbreaking ceremony. Absolutely no procedures should be omitted,” Mr. Hoang emphasized.
