Vietnam’s cashew exports soar to new heights in 2025.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, as of November 15, the country’s total import-export turnover surpassed $801 billion, exceeding the 2024 record. Alongside coffee, fruits, and pepper, cashews are a key agricultural product contributing to Vietnam’s billion-dollar export revenue. Despite global market fluctuations, cashew exports remain robust.
In October 2025, Vietnam exported 73,200 tons of cashews, valued at $504.2 million, marking an increase compared to October 2024.
From January to October 2025, Vietnam exported 628,000 tons of cashews, worth $4.3 billion, reflecting a 2.8% volume increase and a 19.4% value surge compared to the same period in 2024. The average export price of cashews reached $6,811 per ton, a 16% rise year-over-year.
During this period, China, the United States, and the Netherlands were the primary destinations for Vietnamese cashews, accounting for 50.95% of total exports. While exports to the U.S. and the Netherlands decreased in volume, shipments to China saw significant growth.
Cashew export prices remain high in 2025.
China emerged as both the largest and fastest-growing market for Vietnamese cashews in the first ten months of 2025, with exports reaching 142,500 tons, valued at $910.18 million, up 38% in volume and 53.7% in value compared to 2024.
China also leads in the consumption of W180 cashews, the premium segment. Rising demand in China has driven increased purchases of Vietnamese cashews in recent months. Notably, export prices to China exceed those to the U.S.
International organizations predict that China may soon surpass the U.S. as the world’s largest cashew market, offering Vietnam opportunities for diversification and growth.
Exports to other markets, including Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Lithuania, also saw significant increases in 2025 compared to 2024.
The cashew industry’s 2025 target of $4.5 billion in export revenue appears achievable, with potential to exceed expectations. Seasonal demand spikes during year-end holidays, coupled with growing health trends, are driving cashew consumption in the U.S., EU, China, and Asia. Beyond traditional cashew kernels, demand for value-added products like cashew butter, milk, and oil is also rising.
According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), Vietnam has been the global cashew hub for nearly two decades, leading in both raw cashew imports and processed cashew exports. The industry significantly contributes to national agricultural exports and provides livelihoods for millions in Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and the Central Highlands.
