According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the company is accelerating the progress of various components at the Vinh International Airport project, aiming to commence operations on December 19, in alignment with several key national infrastructure projects.

The resumption of operations at Vinh Airport will help meet the increased travel demand during the year-end period.

Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will resume regular flights at Vinh Airport (Nghe An) immediately after the completion of infrastructure repairs and upgrades, upon receiving approval from the authorities.

Starting December 19, 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to operate a total of 7 round-trip flights daily, connecting Vinh with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This includes 5 round-trip flights between Tan Son Nhat Airport and Vinh, and 2 round-trip flights between Noi Bai Airport and Vinh.

Mr. Nguyen The Bao, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, stated, “Early resource preparation has enabled us to promptly resume flights as soon as Vinh Airport reopens. Vietnam Airlines is committed to ensuring seamless connectivity across its entire network, especially during periods of high travel demand.”

Passengers can now purchase tickets for flights to and from Vinh Airport.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam announced that from 0:00 on July 1 to December 31, 2025, Vinh International Airport would suspend all flight operations to facilitate three major infrastructure upgrade projects: runway and taxiway repairs, expansion of the aircraft parking apron, and renovation of Terminal T1.

The runway and taxiway repair project, with a total investment of over VND 623 billion, aims to reinforce the road foundation, drainage system, lighting, and aviation signals.

The aircraft parking apron expansion project covers an area of nearly 30,000 m², increasing the capacity to accommodate 9 narrow-body aircraft parking positions, with a total investment of approximately VND 237 billion.

Additionally, Terminal T1 will be renovated to expand its usable space, increasing its capacity from 2.5 to 3-3.5 million passengers per year.

During this period, airlines have suspended all flights to and from the airport while increasing flight frequencies to nearby airports such as Noi Bai and Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa) to ensure uninterrupted travel for residents in the North Central region.
