Shark Money Trail 12/02: Foreign Investors Surge Back, Proprietary Traders Lightly Unwind Positions

The VN-Index continued its upward trajectory as foreign investors recorded their strongest net buying activity in nearly a month, with significant focus on VJC and other blue-chip stocks. In contrast, proprietary trading firms bucked the trend, posting slight net selling, primarily in HPG and STB.

On December 2, the VN-Index closed above 1,717 points, marking a 15-point increase from the previous day and extending its winning streak to five consecutive sessions. This level is comparable to the mid-October 2025 highs.

Foreign Investors Record Strongest Net Buying Session Since November 5

This recovery was significantly fueled by foreign capital, as overseas investors returned to net buy nearly VND 635 billion across the market—the highest level in almost a month. VJC emerged as the focal point, with net buying exceeding VND 225 billion.

Alongside VJC, five other stocks saw net buying above VND 100 billion: VIC (VND 149 billion), TCB (VND 130.5 billion), MBB (nearly VND 124 billion), VNM (VND 113 billion), and FPT (approximately VND 102 billion).

Conversely, ACB faced the strongest net selling by foreign investors, totaling nearly VND 75 billion, followed by VIX (over VND 58 billion) and VPI (over VND 50 billion). However, selling pressure remained relatively subdued.

Proprietary Trading Trends on HOSE in Recent Sessions

In contrast to foreign investors, proprietary traders turned net sellers, offloading over VND 64 billion on HOSE—the lightest selling in nearly two weeks. Selling pressure was concentrated on HPG (nearly VND 58 billion), followed by STB (over VND 29 billion), HDB (over VND 17 billion), and ACB (over VND 15 billion).

On the buying side, proprietary traders primarily invested in SSI, with over VND 31 billion. TCB and MBB saw net buying of VND 19.5 billion and over VND 17 billion, respectively, while VIC attracted an additional VND 16 billion.
