Phan Duy Lai, Deputy Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board (the investor), stated that to date, the Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway project has been granted sufficient sand and stone exploitation quotas by the provinces. However, the transportation of these materials to the construction site has been slow, particularly for stone, due to challenges in transportation logistics.

For the Can Tho – Hau Giang section, the cumulative construction volume has reached 85%, with the priority mainline for the December 19 opening achieving 88%. To date, total disbursement has exceeded VND 7.5 trillion, reaching 94% of the allocated capital (with 66% of the 2025 capital already disbursed).

For the Hau Giang – Ca Mau section, the construction volume has reached 80% of the contract value. Specifically, the priority mainline for the December 19 opening has achieved approximately 89% completion. Cumulative disbursement to date has surpassed VND 11 trillion, reaching 75%, with 72% of the 2025 capital already disbursed.

For the Can Tho – Hau Giang segment, the investor aims to complete the asphalt concrete paving and bridge expansion joints by December 12 at the latest, with the lighting and traffic safety systems to be finished by December 17.

Mr. Lai mentioned that the overall project progress has essentially met the mainline targets, with only about 10% of the road surface remaining to be paved and approximately 25% of the asphalt sections yet to be completed.

To achieve the set goals, the investor is coordinating among contractors, such as sharing machinery, equipment, and personnel from surplus to deficient areas to accelerate construction progress.

Contractors are working around the clock to meet the set deadlines.

Currently, some sections are still under construction, primarily at the bridge approaches, due to recent unloading for road foundation work. Contractors are simultaneously completing the road surface, installing median barriers, signboards, guardrails, and road markings.

Some bridge approaches, due to prolonged settlement waiting times, have only recently been unloaded for completion. Along with completing the main components, on the Hau Giang – Ca Mau section, contractors are also installing traffic safety systems, with median barriers at nearly 20%, fences at nearly 24%, and guardrails at nearly 23% completion.

Some bridges on the route have completed expansion joints. For the Hau Giang – Ca Mau section, the investor aims to complete the bridges by December 5, the mainline road surface by December 15, and the traffic safety systems and road markings by December 18 at the latest.

Currently, on the Can Tho – Hau Giang section, contractors are maintaining around 400 pieces of equipment and over 1,000 workers operating continuously day and night. Truong Son Contractor has completed more than 20km and is now accelerating the completion of the expressway entry and exit ramps.

It is expected that by November 31, all fence materials and traffic safety equipment will be gathered at the construction site for final installation and project completion.

For the interchanges, the investor and contractors are prioritizing the completion of key interchanges, with some to be finished after the opening, aiming for full completion by the first half of 2026. Photo: Completion of IC5 interchange.
