According to the latest data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, as of November 15, 2025, Vietnam’s total import-export turnover for the year has surpassed $801 billion, officially exceeding the 2024 record of $786.29 billion.

This marks the highest level ever recorded, surpassing even the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s September 2025 forecast of $800 billion.

With this achievement, Vietnam has officially joined the ranks of the Top 15 countries with the largest trade volumes globally.

Given this impressive performance, the goal of reaching a $900 billion total import-export turnover for 2025 is looking more promising than ever.

Vietnam’s 6 Billion-Dollar Export Champions – Setting New Records

Within Vietnam’s 2025 import-export turnover, the country’s export turnover reached $410.28 billion (equivalent to over 10.8 million billion VND at current exchange rates).

This remarkable figure was achieved through Vietnam’s provision of goods that have conquered demanding markets worldwide, including 6 “billion-dollar export stars”:

Electronics: A new record compared to 2024. The total export value of the electronics industry reached nearly $143 billion. Computers, electronic products, and components accounted for $92.13 billion.

Coffee: A new record compared to 2024. From the beginning of the year to November 15, 2025, coffee export turnover reached $7.64 billion.

Durian: A new record compared to 2024. In the first 10 months, durian export turnover surpassed the record of $3.2 billion.

Cashew Nuts: A new record compared to 2024. As of November 15, cashew nut export turnover reached $4.51 billion.

Pepper: A new record compared to previous years. As of November 15, 2025, pepper export turnover reached $1.44 billion.

Lobster: A rare record compared to the same period in 2024. In the first 10 months, lobster export turnover reached a record $712 million.

Meeting Stringent International Standards

Among Vietnam’s “export stars,” lobster stands out as the brightest highlight in Vietnam’s 2025 seafood export picture.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) notes that the $712 million figure, a 135% increase compared to the same period in 2024, is a rare growth rate for a single seafood category. Green lobster dominates, accounting for 98% of the total turnover with a value of $700 million.

China (including Hong Kong) is the largest market for Vietnam’s “underwater treasure.” In the first 10 months of 2025, China spent over $700 million importing Vietnamese lobster.

A common trait among these key Vietnamese export products is their compliance with stringent international standards for food safety, environmental sustainability, and traceability.

These standards not only allow Vietnamese products to enter major markets (EU, US, China…) but also enhance product value and increase export prices.

For Vietnamese lobster exports to succeed, farming practices must strictly adhere to international food safety standards (such as HACCP), ensure clear traceability, control diseases, and protect the environment.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification is a preventive food safety management system that identifies, evaluates, and controls potential hazards throughout the production, processing, and distribution chain.

HACCP aims to ensure products are free from antibiotic residues, heavy metals, and harmful microorganisms.

Other standards like GlobalGAP and BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) established by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) ensure food safety, environmental protection, social responsibility, and animal welfare, helping Vietnamese lobster and seafood products reach global markets.
