PERSOL has released its 2025 Workforce Report, highlighting significant shifts in Vietnam’s labor market and the broader APAC region. Digitization, evolving expectations of younger generations, and sustainability demands are reshaping corporate recruitment strategies. The report identifies five key trends poised to dominate the HR landscape in 2025.

The first trend is the rise of “hybrid” skill sets, blending technological proficiency with strategic thinking and collaborative abilities. Roles requiring AI expertise, data analytics, critical thinking, and strong communication skills are now among the most sought-after yet hardest to fill.

Second, ESG knowledge and compliance capabilities are increasingly critical as sustainability standards become integral to every facet of business operations, from finance to supply chains.

The third trend centers on candidate behavior shifts, with workers approaching job markets as “consumers.” They prioritize mobile-optimized application processes, salary transparency, and clear role alignment from the outset.

Fourth, younger workforce segments—particularly Gen Z and Millennials—continue pressuring employers. Beyond competitive pay, they demand flexible environments, self-development opportunities, and value alignment.

The fifth trend underscores the necessity of multi-stakeholder collaboration in workforce development. Automation and sustainability standards are widening skill gaps, necessitating partnerships between businesses, educational institutions, and regulators to prepare future-ready talent.

According to PERSOL, Vietnam ranks among Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing markets for digital recruitment, particularly in e-commerce, omnichannel retail, and data-driven marketing. This fuels surging demand for tech-savvy professionals who combine operational acumen with adaptability.

Elvin Tan, Regional Director and COO at PERSOL, remarked: “The labor market is entering a pivotal transformation phase. Today’s challenge isn’t about workforce shortages but about adaptability.”
