Can Tho Inaugurates and Launches Eight Trillion-Dong Projects on December 19th

On December 19th, Vietnam will witness a nationwide celebration as multiple inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies take place, marking the 14th National Party Congress. Cần Thơ is set to showcase its progress with 7 registered projects, including 3 inaugurations and 5 groundbreaking ceremonies.

On the morning of December 3rd, the People’s Committee of Can Tho City held a meeting to discuss the organization of inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies for various projects, in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, scheduled for December 19th. Can Tho has registered eight projects with the Government Office and the Ministry of Construction. However, due to incomplete procedures for one project, only seven projects remain. These include two inauguration projects and five groundbreaking projects.

Among the inauguration projects is the East-West Economic Development Axis Road (formerly known as the Soc Trang Road), spanning over 56 kilometers with a total investment of 2,000 billion VND. Additionally, two housing projects, including one social housing project, with a combined investment of over 1,000 billion VND, will also be inaugurated.

The largest-scale project set for groundbreaking is the Wind Power Plant No. 7 – Phase 2, located in Vinh Hai Commune, with a total investment of 3,728 billion VND. Other groundbreaking projects include the Nguyen Chi Thanh Bridge (in Vi Thanh and Vi Tan Wards) with an investment of 1,600 billion VND, and residential complexes such as Hong Loan Social Housing (Building A) and An Phu Eco City (in Cai Rang Ward).

The event will be held both in-person and online. The main venue for the inauguration ceremony will be at the Hong Loan Social Housing Project, while the groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Wind Power Plant No. 7 site.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee, instructed relevant departments and local authorities to collaborate with project investors to complete all remaining tasks and ensure seamless event preparation. The Department of Construction has been tasked with finalizing the report for submission to the Ministry of Construction.
