Thousands of Lao citizens and Vietnamese expatriates in Vientiane were pleasantly surprised to see the open-top VinFast VF 9 electric vehicles leading the military parade into the square.

This marks the first time a Vietnamese vehicle has been featured in a national event of another country, symbolizing the strong and enduring relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The VF 9 models used in Laos were customized to meet specific requirements, featuring a black exterior with white-trimmed tires. The front of the vehicle displayed the Lao national emblem, while the sides showcased the Lao national flag and the flag of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

Technically, the open-top design of the VF 9 was achieved by removing the B, C, and D pillars, along with the connection between the roof and the A-pillar. The entire structure was then meticulously surface-treated to ensure precise assembly and optimal aesthetics. The interior was reupholstered with new leather and redesigned to suit its role as the lead vehicle. The electrical system was enhanced with improved waterproofing to ensure reliable operation in all weather conditions.

Images of the Vietnamese vehicles parading through a sea of flags and flowers, witnessed by thousands of Lao citizens and international guests, quickly went viral on social media, evoking pride among viewers.

Vietnamese expatriates in Laos were deeply moved. “Seeing Vietnamese vehicles lead the parade in Laos felt both familiar and incredibly proud,” shared Mr. Nguyễn Sơn, an engineer working in Vientiane, after witnessing the “Made in Vietnam” vehicles pass by the grandstand.

According to Mr. Sơn, Vietnamese electric vehicles have been operating in Laos for some time, thanks to the Xanh SM taxi service. However, seeing them at Thatluang Square made him even prouder of Vietnam’s industrial advancements, demonstrating the country’s capability to produce vehicles suitable for national and international events.

“The fact that our electric vehicles were chosen for such a significant event in Laos highlights the trust and respect they have for Vietnamese products and ingenuity,” he remarked.

Previously, Vietnamese electric vehicles have served as escort vehicles in major events within Vietnam, including the VF 9 open-top at the National Day parade on September 2nd and the 30th April celebration, as well as the VF 8 open-top at the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Notably, the Lạc Hồng 900 LX model had the honor of serving international leaders during the 80th National Day celebration.

Selected as the escort vehicle for the 50th National Day of the Lao PDR and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane, VinFast’s electric vehicles continue to demonstrate their quality and reliability. This event serves as a testament to Vietnam’s growing international presence and the remarkable progress of its science, technology, and industry.
