After $90M Semiconductor Plant, Tesla, Samsung, Hyundai’s Key Partner Set to Invest Additional $30-40M in Vietnam

The CEO of Yangjie Group announced that the company is actively exploring the development of a new project in Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam. This initiative will focus on the production of GPP wafers to support the MCC plant in Vietnam, while also supplying semiconductor wafers to the global market.

According to the Bac Ninh Province’s Electronic Information Portal, on the morning of December 2nd, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Pham Hoang Son met with Yangjie Group CEO Chen Rui Sheng to discuss support for Micro Commercial Components (MCC) Vietnam Co., Ltd. in expanding its investment at the Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park.

During the meeting, Mr. Chen Rui Sheng provided details about MCC Vietnam’s Micro Components Semiconductor Equipment Factory project, invested by Yangzhou Yangjie Electronic Technology Group. The project received its Investment Registration Certificate in July 2023 for the Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, with a total registered investment capital of $90 million.

The project commenced operations in Q1 of this year, achieving an export turnover of over $27 million. Its primary markets include Europe, the Americas, Japan, South Korea, and China. Key global customers are Tesla, Hyundai, Toyota, GM, Samsung, Philips, LG, and JA Solar.

Yangjie’s CEO announced that the Group is exploring a new project in Bac Ninh, specializing in GPP wafer production to supply MCC’s Vietnam factory and the global semiconductor market. The project aims to produce 2.4 million wafers annually, with an additional investment of $30–40 million.

Mr. Chen Rui Sheng requested the province’s guidance on provincial chemical management authorities, legal procedures for auxiliary construction, stable power supply, and expedited approvals for fire safety and environmental compliance.

Chairman Pham Hoang Son emphasized Bac Ninh’s goal of establishing semiconductors as a key high-tech pillar, positioning the province as a national semiconductor hub. He assured MCC Vietnam of full support for stable and sustainable operations.

Mr. Son directed the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board to coordinate with relevant departments, streamline procedures, and expedite administrative processes. For specialized chemicals under provincial jurisdiction, immediate action will be taken, while central-level approvals will be prioritized.

The Chairman also tasked Bac Ninh’s Police Department with fire safety support and Bac Ninh Power Company with ensuring uninterrupted power for businesses.
