On December 2nd, the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province held a press conference to announce the inauguration of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Stadium and the 2025 Four Nations Football Tournament.
According to the press conference, the stadium’s inauguration will take place on December 19, 2025, coinciding with the groundbreaking and completion of several large-scale, significant projects nationwide. This event marks the culmination of a major sports infrastructure project in the province, demonstrating a strong commitment to cultural and sports development. It aims to enhance the spiritual life of the people and drive urban infrastructure growth. The stadium will also position Thai Nguyen to host national and regional tournaments, promoting local tourism and services.
The Thai Nguyen Provincial Stadium, covering 15.47 hectares, is part of the detailed planning for the Provincial Sports Complex. Construction began on October 1, 2022, featuring an international-standard football field, an 8-lane circular track, and 10 straight sprint lanes.
The field is planted with Zeon Zoysia grass, a natural turf certified by ITGAP for international-standard stadiums. The project includes integrated systems for electricity, lighting, water supply and drainage, wastewater treatment, internal transportation, and a transformer station.
With a seating capacity of 22,000, the stadium’s total investment is 535 billion VND, funded by the central government, land use fees, and other legal sources. Its size rivals Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium (22,500 seats) and surpasses Viet Tri Stadium (20,000 seats).

Upon completion, it will be the largest stadium in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, hosting major national and regional cultural, sports, and tourism events.
The stadium will host the 2025 Thai Nguyen Four Nations Football Tournament from December 21 to 27, featuring Hanoi FC, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, The Cong Viettel, and PVF Cong An Nhan Dan. Approximately 300-350 delegates and 22,000 spectators are expected, with free tickets for all attendees. Matches will be broadcast live on VTV Cab, Thai Nguyen Radio and Television, and neighboring provinces’ channels.
Security, healthcare, transportation, refereeing, and media preparations are underway to ensure a professional, safe, and successful tournament. Media representatives requested ongoing updates on preparations, match schedules, and promotional activities to engage fans province-wide.
Do Thi Minh Hoa, Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mobilization Department, emphasized the stadium’s inauguration and the tournament’s role in showcasing Thai Nguyen’s dynamism and hospitality. She urged media outlets to promote the stadium and the province’s potential, highlighting public enthusiasm. She also called for collaboration between the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and relevant agencies to ensure smooth operations and media support.
