Deputy Director of the Department of Traffic Infrastructure Management and Operation (Department of Construction), Nguyen Kien Giang, provided insights during a press conference.

According to Mr. Giang, several major roads such as Pasteur, Dien Bien Phu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, and Vo Thi Sau are operating at 150% capacity, frequently experiencing congestion during peak hours.

At key entry points like Hanoi Highway, National Highway 13, and National Highway 1, traffic jams are concentrated at hotspots: Thu Duc Intersection, Binh Thai, Cat Lai – Phu Huu Port area, Binh Trieu Bridge construction site, and An Suong – Quang Trung junction…

Mr. Giang explained that the primary causes include a significant increase in vehicle volume, inadequate infrastructure, road narrowing due to ongoing projects, and delayed accident response leading to localized congestion. Additionally, a lack of traffic law compliance among some road users exacerbates the issue.

The Department of Construction is collaborating with relevant agencies to implement measures aimed at reducing congestion during the year-end peak period, amidst rising freight transportation demands.

Key solutions include: traffic flow adjustments, additional traffic signals, expedited project timelines, enhanced technology and camera surveillance… Authorities will also provide regular traffic updates to help citizens plan optimal routes.
