On December 3, 2025, Saigontourist Cable Television (SCTV) announced the discontinuation of the K+ channel package on its platform, effective January 1, 2026. While VSTV, the parent company, has yet to issue an official statement, this move by a major partner strongly suggests the end of operations for the entity holding the rights to numerous popular football leagues. SCTV cited a notification from VSTV, confirming the complete cessation of K+ services starting on the first day of 2026.

SCTV’s announcement confirms the complete discontinuation of K+ in Vietnam from 2026.

According to the timeline, users currently subscribed to the K+ package on SCTV will retain access to the 5 channels until December 31. After this cutoff date, the signal will be entirely terminated on both SCTV and other distribution platforms. Regarding the Premier League broadcasting rights, which have been a concern for users, the rights holder will provide a detailed update in the near future.

Launched in 2009, K+ made a significant impact by introducing premium pay-TV services, featuring top-tier football leagues as its flagship content. However, its dominance has waned due to a slow digital transformation amid the rise of the internet and OTT platforms. Additionally, rampant piracy and persistent copyright violations by some users have severely impacted its revenue.

Although K+ has not officially announced its closure, several retraction measures have been implemented. Since early October, the broadcaster has halted the sale of new satellite receivers (DTH) and TV Boxes, focusing solely on OTT services via its app and website. Subscription renewal options have also been significantly reduced, with the maximum term shrinking as the year-end approaches.

Since July 2025, rumors have circulated about K+’s potential exit from Vietnam.

By November 20, users accessing the renewal system found only two options: monthly renewals or viewing until December 31. Thus, the longest subscription term available from K+ is now limited to the remainder of this year. In December, major partners like FPT Play, MyTV, and TV360 also ceased new sales, maintaining services only for existing customers.

Speculation about K+’s withdrawal from Vietnam began circulating on social media in July, drawing significant public attention. The speculation stemmed from Canal+, K+’s strategic shareholder, considering an exit due to substantial accumulated losses and a lack of viable solutions. Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada openly discussed the possibility of a major restructuring or complete withdrawal from the Vietnamese market.

Despite K+’s reassurances that operations would continue normally, with ongoing broadcasts of licensed tournaments, the reality shows that K+ packages have gradually disappeared from many platforms. This leaves fans seeking legitimate Premier League broadcasts with limited distribution options.

With K+’s uncertain future, sports enthusiasts are increasingly concerned about the fate of Premier League matches. Legally, VSTV holds the rights to the league until the end of the 2028 season, but a transfer of rights is inevitable if the brand ceases operations.
