Standing at 123 meters tall, the air traffic control tower is the “brain” of Long Thanh Airport. With a construction area of approximately 80m² and a body diameter of 10m, it features a radar system installed at its peak.

As the tallest air traffic control tower in the region, it ensures a full view of the runways, taxiways, and aprons, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

Part of Component Project 2 of Long Thanh Airport, this tower is funded by the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) with a total investment of nearly 3.5 trillion VND.

VATM highlights the challenges faced during construction, including adverse weather conditions and strict safety protocols required for high-altitude work.

The control cabin is circular, offering a spacious 160m² area equipped with state-of-the-art systems for air traffic management, featuring a diameter of approximately 14 meters.

This space accommodates at least 12 controllers with a 360-degree view and includes additional room for extra workstations if needed.

The structural construction of this critical project is now complete. The Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board and Southern Air Traffic Management Company are collaborating with international contractors to install specialized air traffic management systems, ensuring readiness for the technical flight scheduled on December 15th.
