Quang Tri Halts Smuggling of 500 Crypto Mining Rigs

A shipment of 500 cryptocurrency mining machines, valued at approximately $420,000, was illegally transported across the border in Quang Tri province.

On December 5th, the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police, in collaboration with Lao Bao Commune Police, intercepted a significant shipment of 500 used cryptocurrency mining machines illegally transported across the border.

Earlier, in the area of Tay Chin village (Lao Bao commune), the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Province intercepted and detained two vehicles, including a truck with license plate 74G-001.xx and a crane without a license plate, which were unloading white bags.

Upon inspection, a total of 23 bags were found containing 500 used Bitman brand cryptocurrency mining machines and 495 black power cables, valued at approximately 10 billion VND.

Investigations revealed that the goods were smuggled from Laos to Vietnam via unofficial channels, without any legal invoices or documentation proving their legitimate origin.

The case is currently under further investigation by the police authorities.
