
Officially taking place on December 7, 2025, the city’s iconic marathon continues to solidify its position as Vietnam’s largest running event. With over 23,000 athletes from 81 countries and territories expected to participate, the race underscores its reputation for professionalism and global appeal, aligning with international standards.
Investing hundreds of billions annually in community initiatives and nearly a decade of fostering a healthy lifestyle through sports, Techcombank has consistently supported impactful programs. In the 8th season, the bank donated over 9 billion VND to various causes, including flood relief, the Ho Chi Minh City Poverty Alleviation Fund, the Ho Chi Minh City Poor Patient Support Association, Vo Hong Son Disabled Children Center, tourism workforce training, the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Talent Fund, and the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation. Additionally, Techcombank contributed 4.2 billion VND to the Cham Yeu Thuong Fund, supporting medical costs for children with limb abnormalities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism, stated, “The 8th Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon Techcombank is a journey to showcase our city’s dynamism, friendliness, and vitality to both domestic and international visitors through every stride of the athletes. The Department of Tourism will collaborate closely with relevant agencies and organizers to ensure seamless preparation, safety, and an exceptional experience, aiming for a sustainable and engaging destination.”

Following the opening ceremony, the Marathon Village at The Global City by Masterise Homes opened its doors to athletes, families, and sports enthusiasts. Visitors can collect race kits, explore the Techcombank strategic sponsor booth featuring innovative financial solutions, and engage with leading brands in nutrition, sports, and healthcare. The expo also includes Techcom Life, the Cham Yeu Thuong Fund, and a tourism showcase highlighting 17 iconic landmarks along the route, new tourism products, and events from December 3–12 during Tourism Week.
This season introduces the “Vietnam Marathon Record-Breaking Challenge”, offering the highest prize money in the country at 120 million VND per category, sponsored by Techcom Life. Top athletes like Nguyen Van Lai, Pham Thi Hong Le, Hua Thuan Long, Dang Anh Quyet, Edwin Kiptoo, Lilan Kennedy, and Birehan Marta are set to compete, promising thrilling races.

On December 6, 2025, the KIDS RUN will take place at The Global City, welcoming over 1,200 children aged 5–14 for 1.5 km and 3 km races. Since 2017, KIDS RUN has been a key initiative within the marathon’s ecosystem, promoting fitness and inspiring young athletes. This aligns with the city’s goal of fostering a “City of Healthy Citizens” where sports are a way of life.
This year’s event marks significant international milestones. The race has been certified by AIMS and the Vietnam Athletics Federation, meeting global standards. The 3rd Mass Sports Introduction Program in Ho Chi Minh City further highlights international confidence in the city’s organizational capabilities. The entire event will be broadcast live on HTV Sports and digital platforms of HTV and Techcombank.
