On the afternoon of December 4, 2025, the Military-Telecommunications Industry Corporation (Viettel) collaborated with the University of Natural Sciences (VNU) to launch a semiconductor chip manufacturing engineer training program. This initiative marks the foundational step in preparing the workforce for Vietnam’s first high-tech semiconductor chip manufacturing plant—a mission assigned by the Government to the Ministry of Defense and Viettel.

The inaugural training course gathered 20 engineers from Viettel Semiconductor Center’s (VSI) Fab division. Over nearly 300 hours, participants will acquire in-depth knowledge of chip manufacturing technology, cleanroom equipment operation skills, and hands-on integration of industrial production processes. The curriculum ensures a solid grasp of both theoretical foundations and practical skills using cutting-edge equipment prevalent in the global semiconductor industry.

Addressing the ceremony, Viettel’s Deputy General Director, Nguyễn Vũ Hà, emphasized that building Vietnam’s first semiconductor plant transcends a mere technological project—it embodies the nation’s aspiration to master core technologies:

“The pioneering semiconductor plant initiative will bridge Vietnam’s gap between laboratory research and real-world applications, enabling scientists, startups, and tech enterprises to transform ideas into tangible products and research into meaningful contributions. Simultaneously, it fosters a semiconductor ecosystem where Vietnamese engineers are trained, thrive, and mentor future generations.”

The advanced semiconductor chip manufacturing engineer training course commenced on December 4.

Deputy Director Nguyễn Vũ Hà underscored Viettel’s unwavering focus on human capital as the decisive factor. Partnering with the University of Natural Sciences—renowned for its strong foundational sciences, state-of-the-art cleanrooms, and experienced faculty—represents the first step toward cultivating a core engineering team capable of operating and mastering future chip manufacturing lines.

The inaugural course assembled 20 Fab division engineers from VSI. Across nearly 300 hours, participants will master advanced chip manufacturing technologies, cleanroom equipment handling, and industrial production process integration—all aligned with global semiconductor standards.

The program ensures participants excel in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills using globally prevalent advanced equipment.

University representatives acknowledged the seamless collaboration in curriculum development and pledged continued partnership with Viettel in standardization, training, and research for Vietnam’s semiconductor sector—a prioritized high-tech field. They hailed this as a model industry-academia partnership, significantly contributing to the National Semiconductor Workforce Development Program.

Representing participants, Dr. Hà Dương Long shared that the course offers not only professional growth and practical experience but also a responsibility to advance Vietnam’s semiconductor manufacturing mastery and supply chain resilience.

Launching this training program underscores Viettel’s commitment to cultivating high-caliber talent, preparing for the execution of Vietnam’s first high-tech semiconductor plant upon project approval. This initiative also marks Viettel’s pivotal role in establishing Vietnam’s semiconductor ecosystem, laying the groundwork for national mastery of strategic technologies in the new era.
