Recently, the Da Nang People’s Committee Office announced the approval of Component Project 1, focusing on compensation, support, and resettlement for the North-South High-Speed Railway project segment passing through the city. This segment spans from the Thu Bồn River northward to Da Nang’s boundary.

With a total investment of nearly VND 9 trillion, the project is funded by the central government budget, the city’s budget, and other lawful sources. Managed by the Da Nang Project Management Board for Transportation and Agriculture Infrastructure, the project is set to run from 2025 to 2028.

The project covers multiple wards and communes, including Hai Van, Lien Chieu, Hoa Khanh, Ba Na, Cam Le, Hoa Vang, Hoa Tien, Dien Ban Bac, and Dien Ban Tay.

The primary goal is to provide compensation, clear land, relocate affected technical infrastructure, and construct new resettlement areas and cemeteries, ensuring full rights for residents whose land is acquired.

Through these efforts, Da Nang aims to stabilize livelihoods for affected households and meet the construction timeline for the high-speed railway.

The Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee has directed the Project Management Board to proceed with approved procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and responsibility for project execution, quality, and efficiency.

The North-South High-Speed Railway spans 1,541 km across 15 provinces and cities, with a design speed of 350 km/h and a total investment of approximately VND 1,700 trillion (USD 67 billion). The Da Nang segment, over 116 km long, passes through 24 wards and communes, requiring the reclamation of 866 hectares of land and affecting around 5,100 households.

To accommodate residents, the city plans to build 34 resettlement areas and 13 cemeteries, with a total compensation and resettlement investment exceeding VND 19.5 trillion.

In the Central region, the project includes two passenger stations (Da Nang and Tam Ky), one freight station at Chu Lai, four depots, and technical stations for future maintenance and operation of the high-speed railway.
