Techcombank Requests Update of Personal Identification Documents
Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) has issued an important notice urging all individual customers to promptly update their personal identification documents (PID) at the bank’s branches. This move is in compliance with the State Bank of Vietnam’s new regulations, specifically Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN, Circular 18/2024/TT-NHNN, and the Law on Citizen Identification No. 26/2023/QH15.
Starting from January 1, 2026, certain common types of PID will no longer be accepted for transaction verification at the bank, including:
Police ID, Military ID (Note: Accounts will be blocked from transactions upon document expiration or from January 1, 2026, whichever comes first, if this is the only registered PID).
Ordinary Passport, Official Passport, Diplomatic Passport (Note: These documents cannot be used for account/card verification after the specified date).
Techcombank emphasizes that customers must bring their valid chip-embedded Citizen Identification Card (CICC) to the nearest branch to update their information before January 1, 2026.
After this deadline, if customers fail to update their information as required, the bank will be compelled to apply measures in accordance with the State Bank of Vietnam’s regulations, including temporarily suspending account transactions, cards, and related services.
Updating the chip-embedded CICC not only ensures compliance with the law but also helps customers maintain smooth and uninterrupted use of their payment accounts and banking services.
Techcombank advises customers to proactively schedule a visit to their nearest branch to complete this procedure by December 2025.
