The Vietnam Logistics Association (VLA), in collaboration with ITL Corporation as the main organizer and sponsor, proudly hosted the inaugural Safe & Outstanding Logistics Driver Competition 2025 on December 7, 2025. This groundbreaking event provides a professional platform for truck drivers to showcase their skills.
The 2025 Safe & Outstanding Logistics Driver Competition, organized for the first time by VLA with ITL Corporation as the main sponsor and partner.
Ms. Vo Thi Phuong Lan, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Logistics Association (VLA), emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance safe driving awareness, reduce risks, and minimize accidents in transportation. “This event goes beyond a competition; it’s a tribute to the unsung heroes behind the wheel, recognizing their excellence and inspiring the driving community,” stated Ms. Lan.
The competition attracted 25 drivers from 17 companies, competing in two categories: container trucks and light trucks.
The competition’s challenges were designed to reflect real-world driving scenarios, comprehensively evaluating drivers’ skills, situational judgment, and commitment to safety. Key components included pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, long-haul driving proficiency, emergency response handling, and vehicle control techniques.
A standout challenge was the reverse parking test, one of the most demanding tasks in professional driving. The judging panel comprised experts from transportation, vehicle inspection, insurance, and engineering sectors, ensuring fairness and high standards.
Following an intense day of competition, Mr. Ngo Quang Truong from Nippon Express Vietnam Joint Venture Company claimed first place in the container truck category, winning a prize of 20 million VND. In the light truck category, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Long, also from Nippon Express Vietnam, secured the top prize of 15 million VND.
Representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department praised the competition’s focus on critical skills and habits directly impacting road safety.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thuc, Deputy General Director of ITL Corporation, highlighted the event’s role in fostering meaningful connections among drivers, enabling skill demonstration, and networking. Additionally, it served as a platform for logistics companies to enhance industry professionalism and workforce development.
According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 11 months of the year, freight transport reached an estimated 2,773.9 million tons, up 14.7% year-on-year, with a turnover of 562.9 billion ton-kilometers, a 14% increase.
Amidst this growth, the need to professionalize the backbone of road freight transport—drivers—has become increasingly urgent. This encompasses not only infrastructure and vehicles but also the drivers themselves, who are essential for ensuring seamless, safe, and efficient logistics services.
