VinFast Limo Green Closes in on Xpander
The affordable MPV segment in Vietnam witnessed a significant shift in November 2025, as VinFast Limo Green recorded sales of 9,642 units, while Mitsubishi Xpander reported 2,234 units. This marks the third consecutive month that Limo Green has led the segment, and the first time Xpander has been overtaken by a competitor for three straight months since its market entry.

From the beginning of the year to November, Xpander’s cumulative sales reached 17,316 units, slightly ahead of Limo Green’s 16,146 units. The gap, once substantial, has significantly narrowed in recent months. Limo Green’s rapid ascent, despite only launching in August 2025, highlights a notable shift in the MPV market’s demand dynamics.

Recent sales trends reflect changing consumer preferences, as both models approach the market differently. Xpander maintains its traditional customer base, while Limo Green’s rapid growth is fueled by consistent supply and cost-effective operation, appealing to service-oriented customers.
What Are Xpander’s Chances of Winning?
In terms of 2025’s overall sales, Xpander still leads but faces challenges in the final month. Its highest monthly sales this year were 2,644 units in October 2025. Surpassing this is possible, but reaching 5,000 units or more per month remains a daunting task in the current market.

If Limo Green maintains sales of 9,000–10,000 units/month, Xpander would need over 10,000 units in December to retain its annual lead, a significant increase from its historical averages. Even if Limo Green’s sales drop to 7,000–8,000 units, Xpander would still need 8,500–9,000 units—a substantial uptick from previous months.
If Limo Green’s sales plummet to 2,000–4,000 units/month, Xpander’s chances improve. If Limo Green sells around 4,000 units, Xpander must exceed this to lead. At 3,000 units for Limo Green, Xpander needs 3,000–3,500 units. If Limo Green drops to 2,000 units, Xpander would only need 2,500–2,800 units—an achievable target under favorable market conditions.

The competition between these two MPVs is expected to remain a focal point in the segment as 2025 concludes, with potential for significant shifts in the sales rankings.
