Launched on September 30, 2020, the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway boasts a total investment of over 20.4 trillion VND and spans 88 kilometers across Quang Ngai (60.3 km) and Gia Lai (27.7 km) provinces. It stands as the largest project among the 12 components of the North-South Expressway for the 2021–2025 phase.
After more than 1,000 days and nights of relentless construction, driven by unwavering commitment and determination, the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway is nearing completion.
The 88-kilometer main route has been fully asphalted, and all 60 bridges along the route have completed their deck surfaces.
Prolonged heavy rains have delayed asphalt work and the completion of traffic safety features. However, with clearer weather, contractors swiftly mobilized equipment for continuous operations, including road marking, sign installation, and guardrail reinforcement.
To meet deadlines, the Deo Ca Group-led consortium deployed over 3,500 workers (peaking at 4,000) and 1,100 pieces of equipment, working in 3 shifts and 4 teams to address unforeseen issues and recover lost time.
Contractors are finalizing road markings, sign installations, and surface cleaning along the route.
The Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway features three mountain tunnels totaling 4,500 meters, with Tunnel 3, at 3,200 meters, being the longest on the North-South Expressway.
Tunnels 1 and 2 have completed equipment installation and are testing ventilation, lighting, public address systems, and fire safety devices.
Tunnel 3, spanning 3,200 meters, houses 20 jet fans, 1,734 LED lights (40W–220W), and other critical systems, all undergoing final installation and cleaning.
The Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway is set to inaugurate on December 19, as directed by the Government.
For the tunnel segments, Deo Ca Group leveraged its expertise from previous complex projects, innovating the “Deo Ca NATM” tunneling method, which reduced construction time by 8 months.
The Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway is poised to drive economic and social development in Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, and the entire Central region.
Connecting the Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway at its starting point and the Hoai Nhon – Quy Nhon Expressway at its end, this route will alleviate traffic congestion on National Highway 1, establish a new economic corridor, and unlock the region’s full development potential, fostering national growth.
