On December 12, 2025, New Era Cold Storage Corporation (NECS) inaugurated the “New Era Cold Storage” facility in Tay Ninh. This marks a significant milestone as one of the largest smart bonded warehouses in Southeast Asia, transforming from a high-tech cold storage provider to a comprehensive logistics ecosystem, serving Vietnam’s food and seafood supply chain.

The newly inaugurated New Era Cold Storage facility

Vietnam’s agriculture and seafood sectors are rapidly evolving, yet modern cold logistics infrastructure remains a long-standing bottleneck. Amid trade tensions and tariff changes, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment aims for 2025 exports of $65-70 billion, with seafood exports surpassing $10 billion, a 12.9% increase from 2024. These figures underscore the Mekong Delta and Southeast region’s strategic role in the national food and seafood supply chain, highlighting the urgent need for advanced cold logistics infrastructure.

However, most regional businesses face significant challenges: a lack of international-standard cold storage, end-to-end logistics services, working capital solutions, and a synchronized ecosystem to ensure safe transportation from raw material sources to export markets. These issues not only diminish Vietnam’s agricultural and seafood competitiveness but also leave the Mekong Delta, Southwest, and Southeast regions’ potential untapped.

In this context, NECS’s inauguration addresses these needs with a green, high-tech, and internationally compliant operational strategy.

As one of Southeast Asia’s largest automated, smart cold storage facilities with 110,000 pallets, NECS offers comprehensive financial and logistics solutions for importers and exporters. It meets international standards such as ISO, Edge, MSC/ASC, and EU codes. Additionally, it is the first digital bonded cold storage facility approved by the Customs Authority, providing efficient, cost-effective bonded services on-site.

NECS is fully automated, operating in deep-freeze environments with robotic systems and smart shelving driven by data and optimized algorithms. All processes—from booking, inventory tracking, temperature management, to shipment history—are managed via a digital platform integrated with IoT and AI.

With a capacity of 110,000 pallets, NECS supports a temperature range from -22°C to +25°C, catering to seafood, agricultural products, processed foods, and temperature-sensitive goods. Beyond storage, NECS offers value-added services such as sorting, packaging, labeling, order fulfillment, port transportation, and export-import documentation. All services are managed on a unified platform, enabling real-time tracking and control of the entire logistics journey—from cold storage to international ports—elevating Vietnam’s supply chain standards.

NECS also partners with banks to provide financial support through a collateralized inventory management model, allowing businesses to use stored goods as collateral. This digital system ensures transparency, reduces risks, and accelerates financing, aligning with green and agricultural finance initiatives.

Strategically located at the Western gateway, bordering Ho Chi Minh City and connected to major Southern ports, NECS serves as both an efficient outbound channel for raw materials and an inbound hub for imports. This prime location shortens transportation routes, optimizes costs, and enhances global competitiveness.

Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, noted that post-merger, Tay Ninh spans over 8,000 km² with a population of nearly 30 million, ranking its economy among Vietnam’s top 10. With a 369 km border adjacent to three Cambodian provinces, Tay Ninh boasts four international border gates, one international port, and three main gates.

Significant investments in transportation infrastructure have created dynamic corridors linking directly to Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas. By 2030, the province plans to host 82 industrial zones covering 21,000 hectares. Currently, 47 active zones occupy over 17,000 hectares, with 32 fully occupied and 13 ready for investors.

With attractive policies and synchronized infrastructure, Tay Ninh has become a leading investment destination. It hosts over 1,550 FDI projects totaling $24 billion and nearly 3,100 domestic enterprises with registered capital exceeding $700 trillion VND.

Post-merger, Tay Ninh embraces a new vision as a hub for urban services, tourism, and industry. The New Era Cold Storage project aligns with Resolution 57 and the National Digital Transformation Program, serving as a strategic link connecting goods to ports and boosting high-quality agricultural and food exports globally.

This ecosystem will support sustainable development in the Mekong Delta, enhance maritime economies, and modernize national logistics infrastructure.
