Launched in 2017, the project was halted in mid-2020 with only 44% completion due to land clearance issues, prolonged procedural adjustments, and inefficient land fund payment processes.

As reported by VTC News in mid-December, Section 3 of Ring Road 2 (from Pham Van Dong to Go Dua) has seen significant progress. Land has been cleared and leveled, creating a more open and accessible space.

Construction teams are actively clearing and leveling the site, ensuring timely preparation for the project’s restart as scheduled.

Contractors are expediting document reviews to meet restart deadlines. Heavy machinery has been deployed to accelerate site clearance and land preparation.

Section 3 of Ring Road 2, a critical segment, has been stalled for years. Abandoned structures have deteriorated, wasting resources and impacting urban aesthetics and local residents’ lives.

After years of delay, the project is set to resume on December 19, 2025, under a Build-Transfer (BT) model, with completion targeted for April 30, 2027.

The project’s restart is a welcome relief for residents along the route, who have long awaited its completion.

Local resident Le Thi Xuan noted the improved cleanliness and openness of the area after clearance. During the hiatus, overgrown vegetation and waste had severely affected living conditions. Residents eagerly await the project’s resumption for stability in daily life and business.

The project’s revival reflects the effectiveness of government resolutions, Ho Chi Minh City’s leadership, and investor efforts. It also marks a practical contribution to the 14th National Party Congress.

Ring Road 2 spans over 64 km, with approximately 50 km already operational. The remaining 14 km, divided into four sections, is being prioritized by Ho Chi Minh City to ensure full completion by 2027.

Once completed, the road is expected to alleviate inner-city traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and boost economic and social development, particularly in eastern Ho Chi Minh City.
