The People’s Committee of Can Tho City has recently directed relevant units to urgently review and restore construction order at several projects in the area, including Ben Ninh Kieu Park. The Ninh Kieu Ward People’s Committee has been assigned as the investor to prepare cost estimates for repairing and renovating damaged sections, as well as beautifying the park. The documentation will be submitted to the Department of Finance for synthesis and advice to allocate funds in time for the 2026 Lunar New Year festivals.

Previously, the Ninh Kieu Ward People’s Committee reported on the renovation project of Ben Ninh Kieu Park and its embankment, initially planned by Ninh Kieu District. The project aims to address deterioration and meet urban and tourism development needs.
Key components include park renovation, focusing on flood-resistant foundation elevation, stone paving, additional greenery, new restrooms, smart lighting systems, parking facilities, and anti-erosion embankments. It also involves upgrading drainage systems and constructing new tourist boat docks.
With an estimated investment of over 190 billion VND, Ninh Kieu Ward proposes including the project in the city’s medium-term public investment plan for 2026-2030.
Additionally, the ward suggests the city government expedite investor solicitation for the Can Tho Passenger Port project at the old Can Tho ferry terminal. This aims to relocate inland waterway ports from Ben Ninh Kieu, enhancing traffic safety, urban aesthetics, and environmental management.
Ben Ninh Kieu Park is a central public space along the Can Tho River, directly connected to the pedestrian street, historic market, night market, Ho Chi Minh Statue, and tourist boat docks. It features boat docks, round and square buildings, parking, and public restrooms. However, most facilities are deteriorated, with fragmented management across multiple units.
