Exclusive Announcement: Ministry of Finance Unveils Nationwide Tet Gift Initiative

In response to the petition from Dak Lak province's constituents, the Ministry of Finance clarified that the issuance of policies in general, and the distribution of gifts to the people in particular, is carried out based on the guidelines of the Party, the directives of the Government, and the annual state budget balancing capabilities.

Voters in Dak Lak province have requested the government to continue its policy of providing gifts to the public during the Lunar New Year and other significant national holidays.

In response, the Ministry of Finance stated that annually, on important national holidays, the President issues a policy to gift veterans and those who have contributed to the revolution. This includes occasions such as the Lunar New Year and War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th.

In 2025, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, as well as the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), the President has decided to gift 500,000 VND to each veteran and contributor to the revolution.

Additionally, on National Day (September 2), the Party and State have also decided to gift 100,000 VND to every citizen as a token of gratitude and to share the joy of this significant day.

Voters in Dak Lak province have requested the government to continue its policy of providing gifts to the public during the Lunar New Year and other significant national holidays.

The Ministry of Finance has acknowledged the voters’ feedback and will collaborate with relevant ministries and agencies to advise and report to the appropriate authorities once the budget allows. The implementation of general policies and specific gift-giving to the public is based on the Party’s guidelines, the government’s directives, and the annual state budget’s capacity.

According to the latest announcement from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday will span 5 days, from Monday, February 16, 2026 (December 29, Year of the Snake) to Friday, February 20, 2026 (January 4, Year of the Horse). With the adjacent weekends, civil servants and employees will enjoy a 9-day continuous break.

For non-civil servants, businesses can choose from three holiday options: 1 day at the end of the year + 4 days at the beginning of the year; 2 days at the end of the year + 3 days at the beginning of the year; or 3 days at the end of the year + 2 days at the beginning of the year.

Employers must announce the holiday schedule at least 30 days in advance. If a public holiday falls on a weekend, employees are entitled to a compensatory day off as per the Labor Code. Businesses are encouraged to align their holiday schedules with those of civil servants or negotiate more favorable arrangements.
