On the afternoon of December 15th, during a press conference held by the Ministry of Public Security, Colonel Nguyễn Đức Long, Deputy Director of Hanoi Police, provided updates on the extradition of Lê Khắc Ngọ in the Mr Pips case.
According to Hanoi Police authorities, on December 13th, Hanoi Police collaborated with the C01 Department of the Ministry of Public Security to bring Lê Khắc Ngọ from the Philippines to Hanoi for further investigation into his related activities.
Lê Khắc Ngọ, also known as Mr Hunter, was extradited from the Philippines to Hanoi.
Earlier, on the morning of November 14th, during the premiere of the film “Tường lửa Tràng An – Chuyên án Cạm bẫy số,” Lieutenant General Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, Director of Hanoi Police, highlighted the significant achievements of the Hanoi Police force, including their collaboration with Philippine police to apprehend a key figure in the Mr Pips case.
Hanoi Police have reported to the Ministry of Public Security to complete the extradition procedures for Lê Khắc Ngọ and another suspect back to Vietnam.
In this case, the investigative agency has prosecuted 48 individuals and seized assets worth over 5,300 billion VND.
This marks the first time Vietnam has successfully dismantled a transnational high-tech fraud ring. Lieutenant General Nguyễn Thanh Tùng noted that this accomplishment has been highly regarded by other countries, as Vietnam has achieved what many nations struggle with in investigating and arresting sophisticated global tech-savvy criminals.
At the press conference on the results of police work in Q3/2025, organized by the Ministry of Public Security on the afternoon of October 6th, Colonel Nguyễn Đức Long, Deputy Director of Hanoi Police, provided additional details on the investigation into the fraud case involving foreign exchange trading platforms led by TikToker Phó Đức Nam (aka Mr Pips, 30 years old, residing in Vũng Tàu City, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu, now part of Ho Chi Minh City) and Lê Khắc Ngọ (aka Mr Hunter, residing in Hanoi).
Hanoi Police have seized 69 billion VND in cash, 2.3 million USD, 890 SJC gold bars, 246 kg of gold ingots, 156 billion VND in bank accounts, and 41 luxury vehicles.
Most recently, on September 24th, Hanoi Police confiscated an additional Volvo XC 90 vehicle, 59 high-end watches, various gold jewelry items, designer handbags, and suspended transactions on 133 real estate properties. Colonel Long stated that the total seized assets now amount to approximately 5,215 billion VND.
