Recently, the People’s Committee of Thuong Tin Commune collaborated with Vingroup Corporation to organize a conference gathering feedback from agencies, organizations, individuals, and the local community regarding the Detailed Planning Project at a 1:500 scale for the Olympic Sports Urban Area – Zone B.

During the conference, the consulting unit responsible for the Detailed Planning Project at a 1:500 scale for the Olympic Sports Urban Area – Zone B presented a detailed overview of the project.

Zone B of the Olympic Sports Urban Area is located across Thuong Tin, Tam Hung, Thuong Phuc, and Dan Hoa communes, with an expected population of over 186,000 residents.

The zone allocates over 1,700 hectares of residential land for the development of adjacent houses, 3-4 story villas, and apartment buildings up to 21 stories (accommodating over 13,000 residents). Additional amenities include a plaza, commercial center, hotels, hospitals, and mid- to high-end resorts catering to athletes and tourists.

The centerpiece of Zone B is the Trom Dong Stadium, designed to seat 135,000 spectators, spanning over 48 hectares. Inspired by the Dong Son bronze drum and the Lac bird, the stadium symbolizes Vietnam’s aspirations.

Upon completion, this stadium will be the world’s largest in terms of seating capacity. Additionally, Zone B features the Global Aquatic Arena, envisioned as an eco-friendly and technologically advanced architectural landmark.

Following the presentation, agencies, organizations, individuals, and the local community provided feedback on the Detailed Planning Project at a 1:500 scale for the Olympic Sports Urban Area – Zone B.

Key concerns included: preserving historical sites, cultural landmarks, and existing residential areas during construction; addressing drainage issues in residential areas; integrating infrastructure between the new urban area and existing villages; mitigating environmental impacts; and creating employment opportunities for residents post-land acquisition.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Standing Vice Chairman of Thuong Tin Commune’s People’s Committee, urged the consulting unit to incorporate feedback from delegates and residents to enhance the project’s practicality.

During land acquisition and compensation, strict adherence to legal regulations is required to protect residents’ rights. The project must balance overall harmony with the preservation of traditional crafts, cultural values, and residents’ livelihoods, while addressing environmental and fire safety concerns.

On December 14, the Hanoi People’s Council approved the construction of the 9,000-hectare Olympic Sports Urban Area, with an estimated investment of over 925 trillion VND, aiming to meet ASIAD and Olympic hosting standards.

The project, spanning over 9,000 hectares, is divided into four sub-projects based on functional zones. Zone A focuses on TOD (transit-oriented development) for new urban areas, serving as a transportation hub and support center for the sports complex in Zone B.

Zone B serves as the sports and service urban center, integrated with the international-standard sports complex and Trom Dong Stadium. It includes an independent sub-project for the sports complex parking area, already under construction.

Zones C and D further develop sports and service urban areas, linked to large-scale sports facilities, creating a seamless space for training, competitions, events, and services.

The preliminary total investment exceeds 925 trillion VND. The stadium is slated for completion by August 2028, with the entire project expected to finish by 2035.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Olympic Sports Urban Area is scheduled for December 19.
