The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a public consultation regarding the nomination of Mr. Nguyễn Hạnh (Johnathan Hạnh Nguyễn), Chairman of the Board of Members at IPPG Group, for the prestigious title of “Labor Hero.”

This consultation is conducted in accordance with the Law on Emulation and Reward, along with Decree No. 152/2025/NĐ-CP dated June 14, 2025, issued by the Government. This decree outlines the delegation and authorization in the field of emulation and reward, while also providing detailed guidelines for the implementation of specific provisions within the Law on Emulation and Reward.

Previously, on December 3, 2025, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City submitted an official proposal to the Prime Minister, recommending that the President confer the title of “Labor Hero” upon Mr. Nguyễn Hạnh (Johnathan Hạnh Nguyễn), who holds dual citizenship in Vietnam and the United States. Mr. Nguyễn serves as the Chairman of the Board of Members at the Inter-Pacific Group (IPPG), located in Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Born in 1951, Mr. Johnathan Hạnh Nguyễn is a Vietnamese-American entrepreneur and the founder and leader of the Inter-Pacific Group (IPPG). This private conglomerate operates across multiple sectors, including luxury retail, airport services, real estate, tourism and hospitality, logistics, and supporting industries.

Since the 1980s, Mr. Nguyễn has invested in Vietnam, actively contributing to the country’s economic integration and development. IPPG is recognized as a pioneer in introducing major international brands to Vietnam, playing a pivotal role in shaping and expanding the high-end retail market. As a result, Mr. Johnathan Hạnh Nguyễn has earned the moniker “King of Luxury Goods.” The group’s operations are closely tied to duty-free and retail stores at international airports and major shopping centers, providing stable employment for tens of thousands of workers.

Beyond his economic contributions, Mr. Johnathan Hạnh Nguyễn is deeply engaged in social, charitable, and community welfare activities. During times of natural disasters and public health crises, both he and his company have made significant contributions to support affected communities, earning recognition from various authorities and localities. These efforts are also considered in the nomination process for the award, as per legal regulations.

According to the regulations, the title of Labor Hero is the highest honor bestowed by the State, reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional achievements in labor, innovation, and significant contributions to the nation’s development and defense. The nomination process involves multiple rigorous steps, including public consultation to ensure objectivity and societal consensus.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested that all feedback and contributions be submitted to the Central Emulation and Reward Board at 103 Quan Thanh, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, for compilation and reporting to the Central Council for Emulation and Reward.
