Vietnam’s Historic Milestone: Unlocking a Record-Breaking 3.4 Quadrillion VND in Just Hours

Tomorrow (December 19th), 234 infrastructure projects and developments across 34 provinces and cities will officially break ground, be inaugurated, or open to traffic.

As planned, the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony will take place from 9 a.m. on December 19th, combining in-person and online formats across 79 locations nationwide (12 live sites and 67 online broadcast points). This event commemorates the 79th anniversary of the National Resistance Day (December 19, 1946 – December 19, 2025).

According to the Ministry of Construction’s report, 234 projects across 34 provinces and cities are eligible for groundbreaking, inauguration, and technical opening. These include 148 groundbreaking projects and 86 inauguration or technical opening projects. The breakdown is as follows: 38 projects from ministries and sectors, 39 from corporations and conglomerates, and 157 from local authorities.

The total investment for these projects exceeds 3.4 million trillion VND. State funding for 96 projects amounts to over 627 trillion VND (18% of the total), while 138 projects funded by other sources account for more than 2.79 million trillion VND (82% of the total).

Key locations include the Olympic Sports Urban Area project in Thuong Phuc, Hanoi; the inauguration of several facilities and the first flight launch at Long Thanh International Airport – Phase 1;

Groundbreaking for Component 1 of the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway project; the Red River Landscape Avenue project in Hanoi;

The Hoa Phat Dung Quat Special Steel and Railway Production project in Quang Ngai; the Tan Phu – Bao Loc Expressway in Lam Dong; the technical opening of the Can Tho – Hau Giang – Ca Mau section of the North-South Eastern Expressway;

The inauguration of Hue International General Hospital; groundbreaking for the Youth Cultural Center in Ho Chi Minh City; and the Phu Quoc Urban Railway Line 1 project…

Earlier, during a meeting of the Government’s Standing Committee on preparations for the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that this event follows the major project launches on April 19, 2025 (50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification) and August 19, 2025 (80th National Day). This ceremony holds great significance, celebrating the 11th National Emulation Congress and the 14th National Party Congress, while inspiring a new economic growth momentum toward double-digit targets in the coming years.

The Prime Minister directed all ministries, localities, and agencies to thoroughly review and optimize preparations, ensuring progress, quality, and clear task assignments. He stressed the “6 Clears” principle: clear responsibilities, tasks, timelines, authority, and deliverables.
