Me So Bridge stands as a pivotal component of the Ring Road 4 project in Hanoi Capital Region, poised to revolutionize connectivity between Hanoi and its neighboring provinces. With a substantial investment of nearly VND 4.9 trillion, this project encompasses a 14 km bridge and access roads, directly linking Hanoi with Hung Yen province.

Within the Ring Road 4 project, Me So Bridge is one of three major bridges spanning the Red River, alongside Hong Ha and Hoai Thuong bridges. These critical structures will complete the strategic ring road axis, fostering expanded development opportunities for the Hanoi Capital Region.

Spanning approximately 2,024 meters, Me So Bridge traverses the Right Hong Dyke, Red River, and Left Hong Dyke. Its starting point is in Hong Van commune (Hanoi), and it ends in Me So commune (Hung Yen), directly connecting the economically and logistically vital areas on both sides of the Red River.

The bridge features a 24.5-meter-wide cross-section, accommodating four lanes for motor vehicles and dedicated lanes for motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles on each side. This design ensures future traffic demands are met while maintaining safety and long-term operational efficiency.

Constructed using prestressed reinforced concrete, the bridge includes cantilever spans over the Red River and dyke sections, with a large main span over the river and Super T-shaped approach spans.

As of mid-December 2025, the Me So Bridge construction site buzzes with activity. Specialized machinery, barges, construction vessels, and materials are fully mobilized to support critical project components.

At the Red River bank in Me So commune (Hung Yen), dozens of workers are busy preparing steel cages for bored pile construction—a critical foundation element ensuring the bridge’s durability and safety. Work is organized efficiently to meet technical standards and deadlines.

“Previously, traveling between the two riverbanks relied heavily on distant bridges. Once Me So Bridge is completed, commuting and trade will become significantly more convenient,” shared Mr. Nguyen Van Lam, a resident of Me So commune.

To ensure construction safety, authorities have implemented measures to restrict water traffic on the Red River near the bridge site and manage shipping lanes to minimize disruption to passing vessels.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, Me So Bridge will significantly reduce travel time between Hanoi and Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, and surrounding provinces once operational.

Alongside bridges like Me So and Hong Ha, the Red River crossing system on Ring Road 4 will enhance inter-regional connectivity, alleviate congestion on existing bridges, and complete the strategic transportation network in the area.

Economically and socially, these projects will spur industrial zone and new urban development, reduce logistics costs, and enhance business competitiveness. The construction of Red River bridges also plays a vital role in implementing Hanoi’s expansion plan, facilitating population decentralization, and shaping a modern, sustainable capital city.
