December 2025 witnessed the most intense sales race of the year in Vietnam’s automotive market. With a slew of policies offering 100% exemption on registration fees and direct discounts of hundreds of millions of dong.
Sedan Segment: Toyota Vios and Honda City Face Off Directly
In the B-class segment, two Japanese giants, Toyota and Honda, are creating immense pressure. The Toyota Vios continues to assert its position as the “national sedan” with the brand offering a 100% registration fee exemption. Priced between 458 and 545 million dong, customers can save directly from 46 to 54 million dong. The actual price drops to just 402–491 million dong, making the Vios incredibly accessible for young families and service business customers.
Not to be outdone, the Honda City also offers a 100% registration fee exemption across all variants, saving buyers 50–57 million dong. Even the “big brother” Civic e:HEV RS (2024 VIN) sees a massive 100 million dong discount to clear inventory, generating significant interest among hybrid enthusiasts.

Mazda CX-5 “Shatters” the Midsize SUV Segment
The hottest spot in the market is the Mazda CX-5. To maintain its sales crown, Mazda Vietnam slashed the Deluxe variant’s price to just 704 million dong. However, actual dealership prices are even more shocking, dipping to 690 million dong—a level typically reserved for compact SUVs.
This move not only pressures rivals like the Ford Territory and Hyundai Tucson but also threatens the market share of smaller models like the Hyundai Creta and Mitsubishi Xforce. Experts believe this aggressive pricing is a wise strategy by Thaco to maintain market share ahead of the next-generation launch late next year.
MPVs and Pickup Trucks: Mitsubishi and Ford Maintain Dominance
The MPV segment remains Mitsubishi Xpander’s playground. With a 100% registration fee exemption worth 60–70 million dong, the Xpander strengthens its lead after selling over 15,000 units in the first 10 months. Other Mitsubishi models like the Xforce and Attrage also enjoy similar discounts.
In the pickup truck category, the Ford Ranger continues its reign as the “sales king.” Except for the XL variant, all Ranger versions receive a 100% registration fee exemption, equivalent to 59–78 million dong off. This move is essential for Ford to defend its throne against the rising Mitsubishi Triton.

Hyundai’s Massive Cash Discounts
Unlike Japanese brands focusing on registration fees, Hyundai opts for direct price cuts with staggering figures:
Hyundai Accent: 64 million dong off.
Hyundai Santa Fe: 180 million dong off.
Hyundai Palisade: A whopping 200 million dong off.
This approach makes Hyundai’s pricing transparent and instantly appealing to buyers prioritizing real asset value.
New Entrants and Imported Models Bring Fresh Wind
The year-end market is further energized by new launches. The Suzuki Fronx, despite being a newcomer, joins the race with a 60 million dong discount on the GLX variant. Meanwhile, the Chinese Omoda C5 surprises by dropping to just 485 million dong—comparable to A-class models—offering a novel choice for tech-savvy buyers.

Even in the D-class sedan segment, the Toyota Camry sets a discount record with a 100% registration fee exemption worth 122–153 million dong, making this luxury model more affordable than in years.
The 2025 year-end price war isn’t just about clearing inventory but a fierce strategy to protect market share amid economic fluctuations. For consumers, it’s a shopping bonanza where bargaining power lies firmly in their hands.

Toyota’s Year-End Power Move: 100% Registration Fee Waiver on Camry, Vios, and Strategic Models
Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) and its dealership network have launched an exciting December 2025 promotion, offering a 100% registration fee support for the Camry, Vios, Veloz Cross, and Avanza Premio models. This initiative aims to boost year-end sales, providing customers with an unparalleled opportunity to own a Toyota vehicle.
