Nestled in the western part of Gia Lai, Chu Prong district is often referred to as the “border gateway,” connecting the key economic regions of the Central Highlands. The locals’ livelihoods primarily revolve around farming, rice and pepper cultivation, and small-scale trading. The hilly terrain, sparse population, and numerous red basalt dirt roads make travel challenging, especially during the rainy season when roads become slippery, muddy, and prone to flooding, often isolating entire villages.

Amidst these conditions, the red uniforms of J&T Express have become a familiar sight, navigating the winding roads and steep hills to deliver goods to remote villages.

J&T Express serves as a vital link, enabling remote areas of the Central Highlands to seamlessly connect with modern commerce.

Maintaining Operations in Harsh Terrain

Lan Huong, the head of the J&T Express Chu Prong post office, shares the unique challenges of the area. The vast, sparsely populated region is characterized by dirt and stone roads. During the rainy season, slippery conditions increase the risk of accidents, and flooded sections make delivery routes inaccessible.

A distinctive challenge in Chu Prong is the lack of house numbers, making address verification heavily reliant on the couriers’ memory and experience. To ensure efficient deliveries, couriers often create personalized “memory maps,” noting recipients’ names, phone numbers, and distinctive landmarks like “Ms. Ngoc’s rice stall” or “the house with a large mango tree at the gate.”

In Chu Prong, couriers rely on detailed customer profiles to ensure swift and accurate deliveries.

Beyond delivery challenges, the Chu Prong post office faces significant operational pressure during peak seasons. While handling hundreds of orders daily on average, the volume can surge five to six times during year-end holidays or festivals. Given the expansive area and dispersed customer base, this places immense strain on logistics and order processing.

According to Lan Huong, the post office proactively prepares for peak periods one to two months in advance by increasing staff, adjusting work shifts, and enhancing interdepartmental coordination.

Thanks to this meticulous preparation, delivery operations remain uninterrupted even during sudden spikes in order volume. Lan Huong emphasizes that Chu Prong’s couriers uphold a strong sense of responsibility, braving long distances and unpredictable weather to ensure timely deliveries, maintaining customer trust and the post office’s reputation.

Transforming Lives Through Red Deliveries

Beyond facilitating access to goods, J&T Express’s presence in Chu Prong and other remote areas provides stable employment opportunities for locals. Dao Thi Mai’s story exemplifies this impact.

Amid Chu Prong’s rain-soaked red dirt roads, Mai, in her J&T Express uniform, has become a familiar figure to locals. For her, each delivery is more than a job—it’s a lifeline supporting her family through challenging times.

Formerly dependent on unstable farming income, Mai joined J&T Express shortly after having a child. “I needed a steady job to care for my child. The more I worked, the stronger and more confident I felt,” she shares.

During heavy rains, when roads turn to mud, Mai sometimes parks her vehicle and walks to complete deliveries. “Thinking of waiting customers and my children at home keeps me going,” she admits.

Her stable job at J&T Express has transformed her life. Free from the uncertainties of farming, she now provides for her family with peace of mind. “It’s tiring, but each workday gives me purpose and hope,” she reflects.

From rain-divided red dirt roads to remote villages, J&T Express’s daily deliveries bring more than packages—they deliver convenience, economic opportunities, and hope to border communities.

This embodies J&T Express’s mission: “Facilitating Commerce – Connecting Every Corner of Vietnam,” where each courier bridges the gap between remote areas and progress.
