The year 2025 marks a significant restructuring phase for Apple’s product lineup. Alongside launching new devices like the iPhone 17, AirPods Pro 3, and MacBook Air M4, the tech giant is discontinuing several once-popular models. In total, 14 products are bidding farewell this year.

iPhone: Older Pro Models and Plus Variants Phased Out

The most notable changes occur within the iPhone lineup. Apple is discontinuing five models, including the high-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which boasted a 6.9-inch display, A18 Pro chip, and larger batteries. This move isn’t surprising, as the company prioritizes maintaining the latest Pro series.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max

More significantly, the entire iPhone Plus line is being discontinued. These devices once offered a larger screen at a more affordable price than the Pro models. Their role is now being taken over by the iPhone Air, a sleek, lightweight device that prioritizes fashion over raw hardware power.

iPad 10 Discontinued, iPad 11 Takes the Spotlight

iPad 10th Generation

In the tablet category, Apple is discontinuing the iPad 10 (2022). Its successor, the iPad 11, features the A16 chip, offering improved CPU and GPU performance, better battery life, and exclusive support for Apple Intelligence. This move streamlines the iPad lineup, reducing configuration overlap.

Apple Watch Series 10, SE 2, and Ultra 2 Make Way for New Models

Apple Watch Ultra

The Apple Watch lineup is also undergoing a major transition. The Series 10 is being replaced by the Series 11, featuring ceramic-coated Ion-X glass for scratch resistance, improved battery life, and 5G connectivity. The SE 2 is being discontinued in favor of the SE 3. For the Ultra line, the Ultra 2 is being phased out to introduce the Ultra 3, which boasts the powerful S10 chip, a larger and brighter display, and faster charging.

MacBook and Mac Studio Embrace New Generations

MacBook Air M2

In the computing segment, both the MacBook Air M2 and M3 are being discontinued with the launch of the M4. Retaining their respective price points of $999 (13-inch) and $1,199 (15-inch), the MacBook Air M4 offers significantly enhanced performance, becoming the go-to choice. Similarly, the Mac Studio models with M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips are being retired. The new lineup features the M4 Max as the standard option, while the M3 Ultra takes the premium position.

Accessories: AirPods Pro 2 Reaches End of Life

AirPods Pro 2

In the audio category, the AirPods Pro 2 is being discontinued as the AirPods Pro 3 takes its place, starting September, at the same price of $249. The new earbuds offer significant upgrades in noise cancellation, battery life, and ear tip design.
