As reported by VTC News, the Sen Hồng stage area in Section B of 23rd September Park (Ho Chi Minh City) remains deserted during the year-end period. This once-bustling cultural hub has been abandoned since 2019. The upper level shows signs of deterioration, with overgrown grass and various damaged structures due to prolonged disuse.
Beneath the stage lies a basement once utilized as a shopping and dining area, along with a parking lot operated under a contract with the Land Fund Development Center. While the basement continues to function as a parking facility, the upper area remains largely neglected.
In response to the growing demand for parking near the city center’s metro stations, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee approved the Department of Construction’s proposal to establish a temporary parking area for Bến Thành underground station (Bến Thành – Tham Lương metro line). The Sen Hồng stage area has been designated for this purpose.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee tasked the Youth Volunteer Public Service Company with managing temporary motorcycle parking at the Sen Hồng stage. Located approximately 350 meters from the existing parking area, this site offers improved access to Bến Thành station compared to previously considered options.
According to the Department of Construction, the Sen Hồng stage benefits from excellent connectivity, allowing passengers easy access to Bến Thành station entrances. The surrounding area is equipped with traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow.
However, experts note that this plan may impact the aesthetics of 23rd September Park. Implementing the parking solution at the Sen Hồng stage will require time due to the need for project proposals, evaluations, and approvals in accordance with current regulations.
Previously, on December 27, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee assigned the Youth Volunteer force to manage a temporary parking area in Section A of 23rd September Park for passengers on the Bến Thành – Suối Tiên metro line. This parking area has operated efficiently and is frequently at full capacity due to high demand.
Due to adjustments in park planning and utilization, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Volunteer force proposed relocating the parking area to Section B of 23rd September Park. The long-abandoned Sen Hồng stage was selected to leverage existing land resources and meet the parking needs of metro passengers in the city center.
