Exposing Billion-Dollar Tax Evasion by Real Estate Giants

The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has released a list of over 4,200 taxpayers with outstanding debts to the state budget, totaling more than 14.369 trillion VND. Notably, several major real estate companies remain among the top debtors, with one enterprise owing over 2,000 billion VND.

On December 26th, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department announced the public disclosure of 4,233 businesses owing taxes and other state budget revenues, totaling nearly VND 14,370 billion as of November.

Among the tax debtors are several companies affiliated with major real estate players in the Southern region, including Novaland, Dat Xanh, Thuduc House, Housing Development and Trading JSC, and Kim Oanh Group.

Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department publicly lists tax-owing businesses in the city.

Leading the list is Vung Tau Paradise Joint Venture Company, operating in real estate and tourism, with a tax debt exceeding VND 2,066 billion. Following closely is Xuyen Viet Oil Trading, Transportation, and Tourism LLC, with nearly VND 1,830 billion in outstanding taxes.

Another real estate firm, Golden Hill Investment JSC, owes nearly VND 1,570 billion in taxes. The top three positions, each with debts surpassing VND 1 trillion, underscore the severity of prolonged tax arrears.

Numerous businesses with massive tax debts face scrutiny.

Further down the list of major tax debtors are additional real estate companies, many linked to Southern property giants such as Novaland, Dat Xanh, Thuduc House, Housing Development and Trading JSC, and Kim Oanh Group.

Specifically, Housing Development and Trading JSC owes VND 850 billion, Ho Chi Minh City Plant Company LTD owes VND 353 billion, MTX Production-Import-Export-Agriculture Development Tourism owes over VND 270 billion, BKVN Trading-Consulting-Investment-Construction JSC owes nearly VND 250 billion, The Porest City LLC owes over VND 190 billion, Saigon Seafood Import-Export Corporation’s branch owes over VND 178 billion, and Phu My Development Investment JSC owes nearly VND 170 billion.

Additionally, numerous other real estate firms owe taxes ranging from tens to over a hundred billion dong.
